Caernarfon Town's Oval will host a Wales Under-21 international for the first time when Cymru face Austria in their final UEFA U21 EURO qualifier on Tuesday, October 6. The club currently sits fifth in the Cymru Premier with 12 points from five games, claiming a goal difference of +7 after scoring 13 and conceding six this season.

The Oval has undergone a major redevelopment with over £1 million invested ahead of the UEFA European Under-19 Championship finals in north Wales. Upgrades included a new playing surface and significant improvements to the stadium's changing room facilities. The ground hosted three matches during the tournament, welcoming Croatia, Serbia and Italy to Gwynedd.

Speaking after the redevelopment was completed, Caernarfon Town chairman Paul Evans said: “The work carried out at The Oval has transformed the stadium.” The fixture comes during a landmark period for the Canaries, who celebrated their first JD Welsh Cup triumph last season.

The international fixture shines a spotlight on the Oval’s transformation and provides a platform to show the town to some of Wales’ brightest young talents. Matty Jones’ side will play their final outing of the qualifying campaign, having previously faced Belgium earlier in the window. Tickets go on sale on September 14, with kick-off details to be confirmed.

Caernarfon’s Oval is not among the most train-accessible grounds in the league, with supporters needing to travel further than at clubs like Flint Town United or Connah’s Quay Nomads, whose grounds are just 0.4 miles from Flint railway station. The Oval requires a longer walk from the nearest station.

The club turns its focus to league action, with an away fixture against Airbus UK on October 30, currently 11th in the table. Caernarfon Town trails leaders Barry Town by three points in the title race and will look to build on their recent form of four wins and one loss from five games as they aim to climb the standings.
