Caernarfon Town's £1m stadium dream is taking shape ahead of the Euro tournament, as the club prepares to host Under 19 European Championship matches next summer. The club is temporarily playing at Llandudno's Go Goodwin Stadium, but the redevelopment of The Oval is underway to meet Uefa standards. Chairman Paul Evans says this marks a new era for the Cofis, with support from Harlech Foodservice proving crucial during the temporary move. The company's long-term backing has helped offset lost matchday revenue and kept the club on steady ground throughout the redevelopment. Paul Evans explained that the opportunity to stage European championship fixtures has given fresh momentum to the club during their enforced exile. The FAW is hosting the Under 19s European Championships next summer and asked Caernarfon Town to be a part of it. However, the field was not up to the standard required, with a nine-foot slope and inadequate away dressing rooms. To address this, the pitch is being levelled, the away dressing rooms are being extended, and new facilities are being added, including a match officials room, doping and physio rooms. Caernarfon Town is also investing in a new dugout, which costs over £30,000, and new fences and surrounds. Despite the significant investment, the club has lost revenue and sponsorship due to not playing at home, resulting in a cost of around £180,000. Paul Evans paid tribute to Harlech Foodservice for their long-standing support, saying they have become part of the club. The regeneration of The Oval signals fresh impetus to improve the club off and on the pitch, with a focus on the academy and developing local players. The club aims to be the best semi-professional team in Wales by 2030 and wants to play a European tie at The Oval, which would require an additional 400 seats. Caernarfon Town also strives to be the flag-bearers for the Welsh language in Welsh football, with around 95 per cent of the club's activities conducted in Welsh.
