Caernarfon Town Academy Graduates Sign Professional Contracts
Caernarfon Town's academy graduates Lewis Wynne, Brodie Summers, Caleb Afful, and Ellis McCue have signed professional contracts with the first team, reinforcing the club's commitment to developing young players.
The quartet, all 18 or 19 years old, have been part of the club's academy system and have made their first-team debuts in various competitions. Lewis Wynne made his debut as a substitute against Caernarfon Town in the Nathaniel MG Cup last season, while Brodie Summers made his debut against Airbus UK Broughton in the same competition.
Defender Ellis McCue is yet to make his senior debut but has been part of the first-team bench on several occasions. Striker Caleb Afful scored on his first-team debut against Flint Town United in the Nathaniel MG Cup in the 2024/25 season.
The club's commitment to developing young players is evident in the signing of these academy graduates. The quartet has been part of the Under-19s side that reached the final of the FAW Youth Cup last season.
"The standout performers from the Under-19s last season have been offered professional contracts, and it's thoroughly deserved," said Youth Team Manager Simon Spender. "Myself and Greg hope that they take this opportunity and get their chance to live their dreams of being professional footballers."
First Team Coach Simon Smith added: "It's fantastic to see the club invest again in our academy players and give them the opportunity to showcase their ability in a full-time professional environment. The boys have worked extremely hard in the time they have been at the club and showed development throughout, and we look forward to seeing that continue."
Caernarfon Town currently sits 4th in the Cymru Premier league table, 45 points behind leaders The New Saints. The team has scored 56 goals and conceded 47 this season, with a +9 goal difference. Their next fixture is against Llandudno on September 15, 2026.
