Caernarfon Town manager Richard Davies is targeting Welsh Cup history as his side prepare to face Flint Town United in Sunday's final at Newport's Rodney Parade. The Canaries have never won the competition and are appearing in the final for the first time, with the prize of European qualification on offer for the winners.

A win would secure Caernarfon Town's first Welsh Cup title and a place in next season's Europa Conference League. Davies led the team to European qualification for the first time in 2024 after winning the play-off final. The club's recent form shows they are capable of competing at the highest level, finishing 4th in the Cymru Premier last season with 45 points from 32 games.
Manager's perspective on the final
"To lead the players out on Cup final day will be something special," Davies told BBC Sport Wales. "We're going there to win and hopefully put our name on the Cup." The manager highlighted the financial benefits of European qualification, stating, "We've had a taste of it and once you taste something nice you want a bit more of it."
Fan support and preparations
Despite the final being held in south Wales, Davies expects strong support from Caernarfon Town fans. "I know the fans will be behind us in their numbers - I think we've already sold 1,400 tickets," he said. The team will prepare as normal, with their next fixture scheduled against Llandudno on September 15, 2026.
European experience and ambitions
Caernarfon Town's previous European campaign saw them beat Northern Ireland's Crusaders in the Europa Conference League first qualifying round in 2024 before losing to Legia Warsaw. Davies is keen to build on this experience, stating, "As a club we want to be competing in Europe year-by-year."
