This weekend marks the start of the 2023-24 Cymru Leagues season, which features several North Wales teams in both the top two leagues. The Cymru Premier League now includes seven teams from North Wales, such as Airbus, Llandudno, and Caernarfon Town, alongside established clubs like Holywell Town, Flint Town United, Connah’s Quay Nomads, and Colwyn Bay. These teams will be competing against top dogs from across the border, including The New Saints.
Nomads are set to open their season at home to Caernarfon on Sunday. Meanwhile, Airbus and Holywell have away games tomorrow, with Airbus traveling to Haverfordwest County and Holywell making a trip to Cardiff Met. Flint Town United, led by ex-Wrexham duo Lee Fowler and Steve Evans, will be heading to Llandudno tonight.
Fowler commented: “It’s game-on now and the start of the real stuff.”
Bala Town, who were relegated from the top flight last season, are favorites to bounce back. They began their Cymru North campaign with a home match against Bangor City 1876 tonight, expected to draw a large crowd. Robbie Evans, one of Fowler’s former Wrexham teammates, is on standby to make his debut for Brickfield Rangers at home to Llanuwchllyn.
The season promises to be full of excitement and competition as teams vie for top positions in the Cymru Leagues.
