Caernarfon Town snatched a 2-1 away win against Haverfordwest County AFC on Friday night, with substitute Sion Bradley scoring the decisive goal just two minutes after the hosts had equalised. The victory, secured by a Clarke penalty and Bradley's late strike, lifts Richard Davies's side to fourth in the Cymru Premier with 26 points from 13 matches.
Clarke gave the Canaries an early lead from the spot in the 12th minute after Jacob Owen was judged to have handled the ball. The game turned heated with five yellow cards and a red for Haverfordwest's Lewis Rees in the 80th minute. Despite being reduced to ten men, the hosts levelled through substitute Ben Ahmun with seven minutes remaining.
Bradley, who had only been on the pitch for five minutes, restored Caernarfon's lead almost immediately. His finish ensured the three points stayed with the visitors.
Haverfordwest manager Tony Pennock saw his team suffer a fourth consecutive single-goal defeat. "Two good teams going at it toe-to-toe," Pennock said. "Things aren’t going our way at the moment. If that’s a penalty, we might as well pack up like because."
The result is a welcome return to form for Caernarfon after a 1-0 home loss to Barry Town in their previous league outing. They now look ahead to a Welsh Cup tie against Flint Town United on Saturday, October 17. The win strengthens their position in the standings, keeping them within touching distance of the European places.
